Principal’s Weekly Message

Good afternoon,

This is Ian Solomon, Principal of the Wake Young Men’s Leadership Academy sharing the latest news and events.

Friday, May 17th is a free dress day for students. The PTSA will be sponsoring a pizza celebration for our young men on the 17th during lunch.

Yearbooks are still available for sale online at jostens.com.

Our Inaugural Awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday, May 28 at 6:30 pm in the East Millbrook Middle School Auditorium. All WYMLA students will be recognized for their accomplishments this year. The school uniform including the appropriate shirt and tie must be worn for this event.

High School students begin EOC and final exam tests on Monday, May 20.

Finally, Saturday, May 18th is the WYMLA Leadership Forum at Athens Drive High School starting at 8:30 am. This day is targeted for young men and their fathers to become engaged in the emerging issues of the triangle region and hear from many of the leaders that impact our local municipalities, the region, and the state.

Good afternoon,

This is Ian Solomon, Principal of the Wake Young Men’s Leadership Academy sharing the latest news and events. Attached to this message on our website is a link for the proposed calendar for next school year that will be voted on May 21 at the next school board meeting. It is also part of our electronic correspondence.

Beginning today, students will be dressed in their Friday attire for the remainder of the school year.

EOG testing for Middle School Students will began today and will run through Thursday, May 16. Free breakfast will be served to Middle School students on Tuesday, May 14 and Wednesday, May 15. High School EOC testing and final exams begin Monday, May 20 through Wednesday, May 29.

Please begin making preparations for our Inaugural Awards ceremony on Tuesday, May 28 at 6:30 pm in the East Millbrook Middle School Auditorium. WYMLA Student’s Play to be Produced

WYMLA ninth grader, Louis Dohanich, will see his play, 60 Percent, produced by the Burning Coal Theatre Company this year. Louis was one of the winners of the KidsWrite 2013 competition that brings students’ plays to the stage.

This is Ian Solomon, Principal of the Wake Young Men’s Leadership Academy sharing the latest news and events.
Training for EOC proctors will be held on Monday, May 6 and Tuesday, May 7 at 7:30 am and 2:30 pm. For more information please contact Mr. Bingham at (919) – 431-2244.

Our final Saturday Academy session will be held tomorrow on May 4. Students should arrive no later than 9 am with all needed materials as well as a snack.
The Wake Young Women’s Leadership Academy is hosting a Semi-formal Spring Dance and Social on Friday, May 10 from 7 to 10 pm. Tickets are $8 and will be sold May 6 through the May 9. No tickets will be sold at the door and no jeans or tennis shoes are allowed.
